The C & S Care Services Training Department was established in 2001 and has developed an extensive training package which exceeds the Essential Standards of Quality according to the Care Quality Commission. All courses meet Skills for Care Common Induction Standards, Relevant Statutory Requirements and the Level Two Diploma in Health and Social Care. Courses can be delivered at Clients’ venues (minimum numbers permitting) or at our own training premises. We provide an extensive range of courses which are not listed here currently. People – Moving and Handling
Mandatory for any care worker who may be required to assist service users to mobilise, or who are required to perform personal care tasks for Service Users. Covers all relevant legislation and involves practical experience with equipment and hoists. Delivered over one full day or two half days.

Basic Food HygieneMandatory for any care worker directly involved with food preparation for Service Users. Candidates will gain knowledge of the relevant legislation and correct food hygiene practices. Delivered over one full day or two half days.

Full Worker InductionProvides care staff with an introduction to the basic principles of care work, company policies & procedures, company structure and required knowledge to fulfill their role to the highest standard. This comprehensive course includes Health & Safety (covering COSHH, RIDDOR and fire safety), Basic Food Hygeine, Safe Moving and Handling and Protection of Vulnerable Adults, Dementia Awareness and Medication (covering general administration, company policy and safe ear, eye & nose drop administration. Delivered over five days. For external clients who have already completed the Full Worker Induction, we also offer a Refresher Session which keeps knowledge and certification up to date. Delivered over an afternoon period. |
Shadowing CourseThis course is aimed at experienced care workers who will be responsible for supervising new members of staff in the community. The focus of the course is to ensure that all staff are aware of the appropriate behaviour expected when supporting new staff and aid retention. It teaches them what induction training staff have achieved and how to assist them in meeting their objectives to ensure their role can be performed to the highest standard. Delivered over three hours. |
Protection of Vulnerable AdultsProvides care staff with an overview of the issues and procedures in relation to adult abuse and gives the opportunity to explore these in a safe arena. Delivered over one half day.

Health & SafetyProvides care staff with knowledge and procedure in relation to various Health & Safety issues such as infection control, MRSA, RIDDOR, COSHH, Basic Food Hygiene and Catheter Care. Delivered over one full day or two half days.

Risk Assessment Provides care staff with the knowledge and understanding of risk assessments and their importance within the care sector. Delivered over one full day or two half days.

Infection Control
Provides care staff with the basic principles of infection control and communicable disease control. Delivered over one half day.

Dementia AwarenessProvides care staff with a basic knowledge of dementia, how it affects the Service User, the importance of communication, developing relationships and how to support the Service User in their own environment. Delivered over one full day or two half days. |
